Know This – About You and Your Calling
I’ve been thinking about you this morning. I’ve been thinking about how much you really want to solve out of your work fulfillment and money challenges.
I truly want to help you end your confusion, suffering and dismay around work and money. I want that for you from the bottom of my heart.
I want you to know that when certainty of calling appears – natural, abundant confidence and enthusiasm come along for the ride. Everyone wants to work with folks who are delightfully high on life.
You too can be up for your work without having to get up for it.
I was thinking back to my years of struggle around this issue. One of the things that truly perplexed me was that up until this year, I’ve always earned more money doing soul-less sales work than authentic work, inspired by my own guidance. It just didn’t seem right.
I thought that making authentic choices was enough to get the money flowing. It should be that simple and it is but only after you commit, stay focused and act to create your one main thing, your true calling.
I didn’t do that. I compromised my dreams. I tried to hedge my bets. I listened to too many others who thought their way would work for me. This all resulted in business building that was a little bit safer and a whole lot smaller than I could have created. Can you relate?
True calling is such an intensely personal experience. A true calling business champions individual expression like no other enterprise because a true calling business is constructed in order to leverage authentic individuality.
I’m there now, in the Promised Land of Right Livelihood and it’s glorious but a bit lonely. I want you here with me. I struggled with earning enough money from doing what I wanted to do for years. But I stubbornly kept at it because even in my under-earning – I valued my freedom more than anything.
Stay stubborn on that one, will you? Please don’t quit; we need your deep gladness.
I’m thinking deeply about you right now and I asked this question. What did I ultimately come to know and understand about authentic potentiality that you may not yet be aware of?
Because even though our individuality is authentically distinct, I understand that there are certain points of knowing that all great women and men come to see.
The process of transformation like all authentic adventure is a journey into the unknown. August Turak
Of course it’s an adventurous into the unknown. If you already knew your truest of callings you’d be living it and enjoying the abundant rewards for serving.
But you’ve hung in there as well, haven’t you? There’s a wise and loving part of you who knows that much more life is possible for you.
I sense since you’re still reading that you may be ready to accept some truths that you may not quite see. You may be ready to accept what I know with certainty about you and your calling.
No kidding, your life will change today if you fully accept what you are about to hear. Your life will change even faster if you act on that sacred acceptance.
Please share in the comments which knowing inspired you the most? Feel free to ask how I know them to be true for you. Pay particular attention to those that you resist accepting.
Most importantly, if you accept these knowings, could join us in Pittsburgh on Jan. 2 for the Big Link Rally and have yet to commit, what else are you waiting for?

After years of personal struggle and work with hundreds of coaching clients, I've come to understand that identifying one's true calling is primarily a spiritual process. Regardless of individual religious beliefs, this process must be approached with the reverence and respect that it deserves.
Hi Tom,
I love the part where you say I don’t need to know any more than what I already know!
Blessings,
Keena
Keena – That is one of my most powerful realizations of all time. Most life-long learners are already for the most part following an authentic path. But if they keep looking for the answer they won’t find it in a book. They will find it within themselves and that’s why they need an environment conducive to self-discovery and not more information.
I liked the statement that I can earn very well by being who I am. That is what I have worked on with my business and so far, so good! We already have 58 bookings on the calendar for this school year. My goal was 60 and we are going to exceed that.
This is my time! I am excited what all I can do with my business. Pondering the different paths I can take with it is exciting. Yeah for me!
Tom,
I know that I am loved for being me and that I am enough. What I resist is “the doorway to abundance will open as my heart opens in sweetspot service.” But, I really want to know that too! So I have to ask you, “How do you know that about me?”
John
You said, “I struggled with earning enough money from doing what I wanted to do for years. But I stubbornly kept at it because even in my under-earning – I valued my freedom more than anything.”
I have, too. I do, too. When job thoughts used to surface, my response was, “La la la la la la la!!!” I was committed, all the way to my bone marrow, to being self-employed – no matter what. But looking back, I realize something else: that until I started to actively pursue discovering what my true calling is, I was stuck under-earning.
I don’t know that I’ve quite nailed it just yet, but I know SO MUCH more about what it might be than ever before, and not surprisingly, my earnings are SO MUCH more than ever before, too.
I don’t have to ask how you knew that about me.
Tom,
As you know I have just started my true calling journey. I fought the concept around “getting to know myself” as I thought it was not important in creating a business…. I was more anxious about getting to the meat of the matter: working on a business plan and getting started (Stuff that I could relate too) I am realizing to find your true calling it starts with doing an inventory of yourself..understanding your strengths, passions and values. As you say if finding your true calling was easy we’d all be doing it right now.
Laurie – I simply adore shameless self-promotion. Only the authentic can pull that off with glee. Congrats – keep being who you are and serving as you do.
John – Thanks for asking the question. I know that your doorway to abundance will open after you open your heart to your sweet spot for two reasons: 1). You have declared yourself to be actively pursuing your calling and we always end up with what we are looking for. 2). It is your birthright to express your original blessing of uniqueness. One half of that sacred covenant is to connect with those who are waiting to have their deepest needs fulfilled by your service. As long as you clearly state that service in a way that only you can – you will indeed see the doorway to abundance thrust open.
The only thing I can’t tell you is when. But since you’re attending the rally it will happen for you expediently.
Suzanne – yes there is a direct connection between under-earning and under serving authentically. I’m so glad that you’ve pointed it out. You are a living proof that the more you put yourself out there without compromise- the greater rewards come back to you. It continues to be an honor to coach you.
Scott – Good to see that you have seen the light. Following a calling within requires more courage but you are ready. A business plan is an outer approach. Since the true calling process is a spiritual one it can only work from the inside out. Plus you get the added bonus of understanding yourself better and really knowing who you are. That’s priceless and will make the outer stuff much more aligned.
Just my two-cents. I’ve found that discovering your true calling and drawing in the abundance around it is incremental. For me it wasn’t waking up one morning and say “That’s it! I know the answer and all abundance will flow from that.” It more a process of going deeper and deeper into your authenticity as you work your calling–so deep that you see the common humanity in it and therefore clearly see ways to serve that truly meet a “need.” From that, abundance flows because then others are naturally attracted to what you’re doing.
Finding ways to change is hard. I know I’ve struggled with it over the years. I try to go after my true calling and I can’t make the changes to make it a reality. It’s overcoming these fears that will let us release our true potential.
Gina – I agree with your statement. My true calling adjustments were incremental as well. Also the closer I got I could see more possibilities to serve as the niche of my calling naturally narrowed. Calling like any spiritual concept must be considered form the perspective of the individual working it. I do believe that this process can be accelerated considerably by working within a supportive group all with mutual intentions.
Karl – You can make the choices but up until now you’ve been unwilling to make them because you’ve believed the fear over the promise of your calling. That statement is more accurate wouldn’t you agree? Sometimes when we truly speak our situation without the fear we can see the opening we were previously blind to. Hang in there man. The world needs your gladness and no one else can fill that space like you.
