Laurie - Accepting what is confounds many of us. Obviously that's the only place from which we can grow and change but it is a challenge. I accept by thinking about the alternative - resistance and that never works.

Kenny - Yes I understand that. Others will take their cue from your enthusiasm and confidence. If you want their blessing then you must be the strong and dedicated one. Keep saying the true calling prayer with great faith. Keep working the compass points in the guidebook. Then when you get that great realization -jump on it with action.

#4 is the one I think requires the most courage. With so many financial commitments and personal obligation, I often wonder if my true calling's going to arrive and it calls for serious life altering changes. Changes that may not garner unconditional support from loved ones.

The one I think is the most natural for me is "Be authentically individual especially in the face of social conformity." Sometimes this gets me into trouble too. The one I struggle with the most is "Be courageous enough to accept what is, both now and once your calling arrives." I tend to want what I want. Accepting something different than that is difficult for me.

Evan - Being vulnerable enough to freely express in the face of appropriateness of what "they" think is one of the greatest challenges of living authentically. Since we are all connected when we don't go along we sometimes feel like we are breaking that connection. But a connection to those who are hiding their true selves is a weak one. We are much better off connecting through the vulnerability of our hearts in service to those who want that greater connection.

Jannie - I appreciate your recognition of my true expression and I joyously accept your good vibes regardless of distance.

Tom, your positive spirit is nothing short of infectious, inspiring and uplifting. you're a true example of live from a heart level and it really shines through.

Jan 2nd, what a perfect date to start on a great new adventure! Wish I could be there, but in spirit I will and I'm sure I'll feel the good vibes all the way down here in Texas.

Hi Tom,

I think #9 "Be authentically individual especially in the face of social conformity." is the tricky one for me (and it feels like it always has been).

I guess it is the expression of it. Eg. there are some "guru's" whose stuff I found naff and ordinary, others who are just plain wrong, and others who are so confused that I think they do a disservice to their followers. Sometimes I'm tempted to flame them, but this leads to people defending them and won't help people change in my experience. So I tend to ignore these people and just do my own stuff and direct people to those who I think are producing great stuff.

So I don't define myself against others and their conformity. But sometimes I'm still tempted.

Hi Keena,

Gosh I hope it's not too deep sop that folks won't get it. I agree number 4 takes some faith that you are in the midst of the process. But nothing really stirs momentum without the faith that it's coming. I also have a lot of fun with number nine being my wild ass self. Show me some appropriateness and I'll push against it with my individuality.

Great post, Tom - very deep!

I think it's easier for one to be patient and express #4 when they have a broad idea and need to refine it.

And I love #9.

Blessings,
Keena
